A methodology is presented whereby one can easily develop a spreadsheet on a PC to perform a loading on a transponded satellite. The mathematics are given in simple terms and the techniques used in a spreadsheet are presented. One can easily develop a loading tool to cover the following cases: linear or hard limited transponder operation, jamming (either AWGN or constant envelope), calculation of intermodulation (IM) products, calculation of small signal suppression, effects of uplink and downlink rain, orthogonal and non-orthogonal spread waveforms etc. Techniques are presented that allow for the search of the maximum supportable jammer for a fully loaded transponder, the loading of the transponder for FDMA operation (with no jamming) and many other loading exercises
