The star trak project in Leicester has been conceived, implemented and marketed as an innovative approach to real time passenger information and bus priority. The paper highlights many of the innovative approaches taken to achieve those aims, and to help produce the many benefits of the system: for the local authorities-helping to their aims of promoting quality bus services; for the bus companies-excellent network management information; for the travelling public-accurate next-bus information, more reliable services and shorter journey times.
