Field and test experience with insulating rope at BPA

Test standards for evaluation rope used for hotline work or work in the proximity of energized power lines need to be revised. Field and test experience with polydacron rope demonstrates that rope test standards need to include a leakage current measurement method that minimizes capacitive current; to increase the time requirement for the 60 Hz 100 kV/ft dry withstand test; to revise the method of performing wet leakage current tests; and to increase the voltage stress level for wet tests.<
