A staggered frame method to lessen the transmission delay (queueing) between the base station transceiver subsystem and base station controller subsystem in a mobile system is suggested. In the staggered frame method, the transmit time of the traffic is distributed over a frame boundary. Four kinds of staggered frame method for integrated voice and data are analyzed. Scheme I is an existing algorithm which does not discriminate between voice and data traffic during the assignment of channel. Scheme II and scheme III, suggested in this paper, have voice and data traffic processed differently each other. In scheme II, data and voice traffic can be assigned in the same offset slot, but voice traffic and data traffic are assigned different regions in the sub-frame. In scheme III, subframes are classified into two regions, that is, some subframes are allocated exclusively to voice traffic, and other slots are allocated exclusively to data traffic. According to the analysis results, scheme I and III are superior to scheme II as the traffic load is increased.
