The design implementation of imaging infrared (IR) seekers for anti-aircraft missiles is highly volatile, as sensor and signal processing configurations can be readily modified, sometimes (in the case of signal processing algorithms) in near real time. Hence, one should be able to model the behavior of imaging seekers in an environment where parameters can be easily changed by the user to reflect different possible seeker design implementations. The Signature Technology Laboratory of Georgia Tech Research Institute, under the auspices of the Imaging Threat Investigation (ITIV) program from the Air Force Research Laboratories Electro-Optics Warfare Division (AFRL/SNJW) built an imaging IR seeker simulator in the Khoros graphical programming environment which allows rapid modification or complete restructuring of modeled imaging seeker designs
