Nowadays a future oriented product development and design of capital goods should consider a design for recycling and maintenance. The existing support instructions are neither structured uniformly nor adapted to the design process. Therefore, this paper presents a method oriented basis for structuring existing support instructions and for developing practical and flexible support instructions for the design in terms of recycling and maintenance aspects of capital goods. The structure and classification is also shown, as examples of the support instructions within the computer based application
