In 1997, a project to develop recycling information systems was initiated by the Manufacturing Scientific Technology Center Foundation. Our company participated in this project and developed a recycling information system for our own products. Using personal computers, the system provides easily understandable three dimensional recycling information on typical wide-television sets. Our system provides useful information for recyclers for product disassembly, as well as for manufacturers when they consider suitability of the product for recycling. This paper describes our recycling information system and further work planned to realize a support system for DFE (design for environment)
