Number One Systems presents its affordable electromagnetic simulator, LAYAN, which is based on the results of over 20 man-years of work by Philips Research Laboratories. This program satisfies an important need associated with circuit analysis at high frequencies, namely accounting for transmission losses, capacitances and inductances introduced by the layout. LAYAN works with, and requires, Number One Systems' schematic capture and PCB layout package EASY-PC Professional XM and their ANALYSER III Professional linear circuit simulator. LAYAN is a data extraction program that converts physical layout information into ANALYSER III format for analysis. The extraction process includes the effects of dielectric losses, skin effect, ground and mutual capacitances, and mutual and self inductances. The program accounts for the parasitic effects associated with interconnections and can also be used to predict the performance of stubs, couplers, matching networks, etc., etc. It runs on a 486-based PC with 8 MB of RAM, although a Pentium-based PC with at least 16 MB of RAM is recommended
