In this paper the Sentinel-1 on board Data Compression Estimation tool (COM) is presented. Sentinel-1 SAR antenna is known to produce a large volume of data during acquisition and the Flexible Dynamic Block Adaptive Quantization (FDBAQ) compression scheme has been built to efficiently overcome this problem. The COM processor is a software suite that emulates the FDBAQ on-board operations to provide a sufficient degree of accuracy to the simulations.
