I assume the office of President with much enthusiasm and optimism that 1983 will be another outstanding year for the Circuits and Systems Society. Before I get too involved with Society business, I would like to express my deep appreciation to Bede Liu for giving us the benefit of his sound leadership, profound vision, and dedicated service as last year's President. I have promised Bede that I will call upon him frequently for advice and keep him very busy as he serves as Past-President.
