THERE are many aspects to managing technical professionals that fall into the domain of the Technology Management Council's portfolios. What I suggest in this article is valid in any organization where managing technical professionals determines organizational success. While educating students in managing engineering and technology occurs on a daily basis in academia, I'll approach the topic from a practitioner's perspective and ask the question: can technical professionals easily transition to becoming effective engineering and technology managers?
