For many years, the Defence Evaluation and Research Agency, in co-operation with Siemens Plessey Systems and Roke Manor Research Limited, have been developing the MESAR (multi-function, electronically scanned, adaptive radar) technology. This paper presents an overview of the MESAR experimental radar and describes some of the performance that have been demonstrated during an extensive trials programme. In particular those novel functionalities, made available through the adaptive control and processing of digital sub-arrayed antenna information, are presented
