A CPW-fed planar antenna for ultra-wideband application is presented. The proposed antenna consists of a beveled rectangular patch and a modified rectangular slotted ground. By cutting a half-wave resonant structure in the radiating patch, a notch band centered at 5.6 GHz for band rejection of IEEE 802.11a wireless local area network (WLAN) is achieved. Experimental results show that the proposed antenna yields an impedance band of 2.8-12 GHz with S11<; -10 dB. The antenna also exhibits stable radiation patterns over the operating band with a reasonable gain.
