FE-analysis of a soft-mounted two-pole induction motor regarding relative shaft vibrations caused by static rotor eccentricity

The paper presents an FEM-based vibration analysis of a two-pole induction motor, mounted on a soft machine foundation, regarding electromagnetic excitation due to static rotor eccentricity. Static rotor eccentricity causes inhomogeneities in the air gap of an induction motor, which lead to an oscillating electromagnetic force that acts on the rotor and on the stator. This magnetic force is implemented in a finite-element model to analyze the relative displacements in the sleeve bearings between the bearing shells and shaft journals and the relative displacements in the air gap between the rotor core and stator core.
