Ribeiro, A.L. ; Dept. de Engenharia Electrotecnica e de Computadores, Inst. Superior Tecnico, Lisboa, Portugal

The author attempts to show that the Preisach model is well suited to teaching magnetic hysteresis phenomena, particularly magnetic recording, its undergraduate electrical engineering students. He presents the model and develops a program which may be used to simulate interactively the magnetic hysteretic curves, the values of the magnetic field being introduced by the students. As an example, the Preisach model is used to study the problem of magnetic anhysteresis and magnetic bias recording. The study of the Preisach model is included in a one-semester course on magnetic recording
