Nonlinear modulators, of any physical nature, exhibit a frequency spectrum in which sidebands, while always symmetrically located with respect to the central peak, generally present different amplitudes. In this paper, a systematic theoretical study on the possibility to achieve a symmetry also in the sidebands amplitudes is carried out. This amplitude symmetry property is investigated for pure and combined, linear and nonlinear, analog modulation schemes. A validation of our theoretical results is achieved through a numerical study performed on a nonlinear spintronic modulator.
