An improved simulated annealing (ISA) approach is proposed to solve the constrained optimization problems. The improvements to the original SA is done in the initial solution generation and in the neighbourhood of the solution generation. These improvements led to decreasing number of iterations and reaching the optimal solutions faster. The proposed ISA approach is tested on thirteen well known benchmark problems with different types and different variables sizes. The results show that proposed ISA approach can yield optimal solutions for most the constrained problems and outperforms the other approaches.
