Effect on various strengths of reinforced silica in epoxy polymer forms the bulk of the present study. The silica in 1, 2 and 3wt% proportions is surface treated with a suitable silane agent and the hybrid nanocomposite is prepared by the hand lay-up technique. Characterization of the silica was done by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. Mechanical properties like tensile strength, impact strength, flexural strength and hardness have been investigated as per the ASTM standards. Wear rates have also been determined. Radial basis function network, a tool of ANN, has been employed to predict all the above outcomes. In addition, mathematical regression models have also been employed for this theoretical prediction. Both these prediction models and especially the ANN, have been found to be in very good agreement with the actual results, thus validating the modulus. Hence this technique makes possible significant savings in terms of time, effort and money.
