As the world becomes a highly interconnected place, there is an increasing demand for providing ubiquitous access to content and services over a wide variety of platforms and devices. There is an increasing need to provide rich, intelligent and personalized services to the user irrespective of his location or method of access. There is a need to be connected and have access to resources and services round the clock. All of the above requirements need to be fulfilled in a seamless and scalable fashion in order to support a rich user experience. The cloud computing paradigm has been proposed as the next generation infrastructure to support a highly scalable service oriented architecture to achieve these goals.
