Dynamic Deployment of Collaborative Components in Service-Oriented Architectures

Dynamic deployment of collaborative components on mobile devices like PDA or Smartphone is a research issue and a technological challenge. Our approach aims to minimize the management actions a user has to undertake to deploy on his device the necessary software for collaborative applications. We aim for this to allow automated dynamic deployment appropriately to the user's device characteristics and to his expressed preferences. The goal of this paper is to present our results in this context. We present a service-oriented architecture we designed and a profile mechanism taking into account both the user preferences and his device characteristics. This profile allows a given user to discover the appropriate set of components or services according to his attributes, as required for advanced session management in collaborative applications. A prototype was developed as a demonstrator of ubiquitous collaboration for the European project ITEA2-USENET which aims to provide a universal, generic and standardized technical foundation for application deployment to promote the use of Machine to Machine (M2M) technologies.
