In this paper we have presented the design and the functioning of a programmable controller for combustion engines with spark ignition, designed for the tuning of sports cars. We have presented the method of connection of the computer with the target system, a draft of the algorithm of engine's work and the structure of used data. The second part has been dedicated to the tested methods of the adaptive correction of the fuel map and ignition map contents. We have presented two of the designed and used algorithms, as well as the principles and effects of their work. We have also compared their performances and utility during tuning and use of a race car engine.
