Multi-h CPFSK modulation is a scheme that is simple to implement, spectrally efficient in terms of bandwidth and has inherent error correction properties. It is the purpose of this research to find specific limits of the niche in which multi-h finds itself. The vehicle of comparisons between modulation and coding schemes is the probability of error tradeoff against signal to noise ratios. Multi-h requires large parameter sets to obtain low probabilities of error. Huge numbers of combinations may need to be investigated. A fast efficient and thorough search needs to be performed. A search algorithm based on the genetic algorithm and known as the `population based incremental learning' (PBIL) algorithm is thought to be ideal
