Technical professionals perform diagnostic activities on a daily basis. However, the task of diagnosis does not form part of the curricula of most educational institutions. Computer-based simulated training environments for diagnostic tasks can fill this gap between educational institutions and field work. This paper presents the motivation, functionality, architecture and design issues for such a training environment
