In this paper, after theoretical background on pulse-shaping, a user interface for calculating the communication quality of a satellite communication system is given. The program is designed with National Instruments' LabVIEW. Simulation results show that in space communications it is recommended to use pulse-shaping filter before sending the information through channel since this reduces the intersymbol interference and ensures a better communication. It is advised to use the root raised cosine filter. Analyzing the bit error rate showed that by increasing the roll off factor of a pulse-shaped filter communication quality also increases.
