This article discuss the substitution of a capacitive power supply for a low cost switch mode power supply. It presents the pros and contras of both topologies and how it is possible to substitute the former circuit with better electrical characteristics while achieving the cost target of the electronic control board. This electronic board is used at home appliances, washer machines.
