This paper presents the magnetic sensing system design for intelligent vehicle guidance. The sensing system based on magnetoresistive sensor is reliable, robust, and low cost. Roadway characteristics and transportation information are provided by using magnetic marker coding method. The magnetic field ratio method in combination with the sequencing method is proposed to calculate the lateral offset of the intelligent vehicle with high measurement accuracy.
