This paper addresses system engineering and mission planning issues for a disposable, remote chemical sensor network. This network will interconnect a satellite hub, LEO satellites, remote sensors, and fiber optic communication operations. Engineering considerations include orbital analysis, telemetry, satellite transponder access, modulation techniques, power for remotes, a frequency plan, antennae selection and verification that performance is feasible and acceptable via link budgets
