The process community and the automated tools communities often operate independent of one another. To be effective for operational users, the two groups must align their efforts and also must focus clearly on the real needs of end users. CASPs provide a natural alignment mechanism for process, methods and tools. The GASP concept is explicated in terms of twelve categories of defining documentation. Promising early results and lessons learned from the use of CASPs on projects at Hughes Aircraft is described
