This paper describes how key legacy tools can be interfaced to the Joint Modeling and Simulation System (J-MASS). The Air Force analytical community depends on many critical and high-valued models and simulations that do not have a current equivalent functionality in the J-MASS Modeling Library. On a case-by-case basis, the most important of these legacy models could be interfaced to J-MASS by the user community as a migration path to the advanced simulation technology systems envisioned by the Air Force. Legacy simulations can be connected at various levels within J-MASS, depending upon desired level of interoperability. Legacy simulations can be “plugged” in at the Simulation Support Environment (SSE) Interconnect Backplane (IBP) Layer (agent), Simulation Runtime Agent (SRA) IBP Layer (team), or Services IBP Layer (player). The higher the layer you choose, the lower the effort and cost but the lower the level of interoperability. This paper reviews how the Suppressor Simulation System was interfaced to J-MASS as an interim composite mission model capability for the aircraft survivability community and the resultant synergistic capabilities. With a legacy interface, key legacy models can access J-MASS post-processing tools and other commercial products that interface with J-MASS. Legacy model users no longer have to depend on table lookups but (as needed) can obtain higher fidelity data from J-MASS compliant models developed by domain experts running within J-MASS
