It is mentioned in the Gospels of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa that whenever the latter used to be in communion with Gods and Godesses, his gastro-intestinal problems used to be considerably aggravated clearly suggesting that the physiological subsystems are invariably affected during the journey through higher levels of consciousness. It is claimed that the minds of yogies are gradually liberated from the space-time domain during the journey towards samadhi. In this work EEGs and ECG are picked up from a subject in the transcendent state and the signals are analysed. Utilising the experimental results, it is further concluded that, during transcendency some of the monitoring/executing physiological subsystems may be switched off. An example is given from the life of Ramakrishna Paramhansa. The possible correlation of gradually dropping the physiological subsystems to the neti..neti.. of Upanisads is discussed
