In this paper we investigate the performances of four types of variable structure controllers (VSC) both in the undisturbed motion and under the influence of disturbance and noise. Two compared controllers, continuous time VSC (CTVSC) and discrete time VSC (DTVSC) are well known, while discrete time dual rate VSC (DTDRVSC) and fuzzy VSC (FVSC) are new control structures. Digital simulation results presented in this paper clearly show that new controllers in comparison with classical VSC have some real advantages
