The paper presents a simple approach to calculate the LC components of an input filter for the multiphase operation of DC choppers and compares the results with the more complex models. The design equations for these models are presented, and a design example is considered to illustrate the design procedures. The limitations of these models and the effects of the multiphase operation of choppers on the current and voltage ripples are discussed.
