The derivative of a pressure waveform obtained from oscillometry has the characteristics of a flow waveform. The accuracy of the waveform varies with transmural pressure. Using an in vitro model, a flow sine wave was generated and measured via the pressure gradient method to verify the calibration of flow. Also, a Doppler flow transducer was employed allowing comparison with flow waveforms obtained from oscillometry in an in vivo study. The results suggest that flow measurement is calibrated when cuff pressure is such that arterial compliance is near maximum
