This paper presents a cross-layer design approach for a packet scheduling algorithm called an adaptive profile scheduling (APS) algorithm. The proposed APS takes into account different wireless channel conditions observed by subscriber stations to enhance the system throughput while it preserves the property of the long-term fairness and the guaranteed rate for users
