The balanced scorecard concept, developed in 1992 by Robert S. Kaplan and David P. Norton, became one of the most expedient management approaches on international scale. At the highest conceptual level, balanced scorecard is defined as being a "frame that helps the organizations to transpose the strategy into operational objectives, in order to direct both the organization performance and behavior". A success factor in implementing the balanced scorecard is represented by the use of dedicated software tools. The paper presents the basic concepts of the balanced scorecard method, the main functional requirements, the standards regulations for the method implementation in software tools and a specific information system developed by the authors. The developed system provides support for the balanced scorecard methodology application in the organization global performance assessment
