Process and metallurgical variations affecting the performance of internally oxidized, homogeneous, monolithic silver cadmium oxide

It is suggested that monolithic (oxidised from one side only or single phase) internally oxidized Ag/CdO contact material holds the promise to become one of the most popular contact material for medium-duty applications. Recent process developments have reduced manufacturing cost and improved reliability and performance of the material in electrical contact applications. A number of process parameters that have to be controlled to achieve the desired metallurgical and physical properties of the material, and the novel processes which allows this control, are described.<
