Data integration in a multidatabase environment needs to be flexible and dynamic. We propose a framework that supports `open' architecture in which every system on the network can exchange data, it requires a rich data structure and a powerful negotiation protocol. We also discuss the contract/negotiation used in the contracting mechanism and correspond its features with the requirements of the proposed frameworks
