The queued-arbitrated (QA) protocol of the distributed queue dual bus (DQDB) has several drawbacks, such as unfairness of access opportunities and inefficiency of priority scheme in the multipriority environment. A modified version of the basic distributed queuing algorithm is presented to solve these problems. Simulation results indicate that the proposed strategy provides fairer access opportunities as well as more efficient priority transmissions compared to the current algorithm
