Development of subduct installation method inside the duct with the power cable

For the future information-oriented society, the demand for high-volume information transfer using optical fiber cable is increasing. However, installation of a new protective conduit exclusively for optical fiber cable in an urban area presents many problems. Tokyo Electric Power Company and Hitachi Cable have developed a practical technique to lay optical fiber cable in a conduit in which a power cable has been already installed. The authors describe this system.<
