This study investigates the effect of mismatch noise on the bit error-rate performance of an optical chaos cryptosystem. This paper shows that the BER variation law induced by mismatch noise should approximately follow the "erfc" law of Gaussian noise, and that the deviations can be evaluated by using the Gram-Charlier coefficients of the mismatch noise in a perturbative approach. Furthermore, it can also analytically be shown that the BER is almost independent of the bit-rate, within the bandwidth of the optical hyperchaotic carrier.
