A novel single drive electrode method is adopted in the electrical resistance tomography (ERT). Based on this new drive method, the model of field distribution is established, and both the modified linear back-projection (LBP) algorithm and the modified sensitivity coefficient back-projection (SBP) algorithm are also proposed. The two modified algorithms are evaluated with simulation data and compared with the two conventional back-projection algorithms in the adjacent exciting method. The reconstruction images of several typical medium distributions show the validity of the presented method.
