We rely on a kurtosis-type criterion to derive blind carrier frequency offset (CFO) estimation algorithms for various orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Identifiability and performance of the resulting blind CFO estimators depend on the channel's frequency selectivity and the input distribution. We also apply this approach to blind CFO estimation in multiinput multioutput (MIMO) OFDM systems. The effects of multiple antennas are addressed analytically and tested via simulations.
