Virtual prototype (VP) technology is the research hotspot in the recent years. A review for the research and application on VP technology is expatriated. The main research content is the system architecture of cooperative design and simulation of complex products with VP and the key technologies under the concurrent engineering environment. The system framework and solution scheme of cooperative design and simulation with VP are set up. The multi-domain integrated numerical modeling theory and method for VP are presented. The model of integrated process management and conflict resolution for the lifecycle of VP development is built. The theory and methodology on multidisciplinary cooperative design, cooperative simulation and intelligent decision support for the VP of complex product development is described. The framework of cooperative support environment for VP of complex products is built and the result is satisfied.
