The paper proposes a fuzzy logic based receiver structure for mobile communication systems. The novel receiver structure is based on fuzzy rules with recursive least squares (RLS) adaptation. The superiority of the proposed RLS adaptive fuzzy receiver compared to the least mean square (LMS) adapted fuzzy receiver and the classical receiver is demonstrated. Simulation results show that fuzzy receivers outperform classical receivers and that the proposed RLS adapted system provides better results than the LMS adapted receiver.
