The channel estimation effects on the RAKE receiver performance is studied. A general characteristic function of the useful energy is derived. It contains the channel estimation bias and the noise effects. This formulation is applied to approximate the error probability when paths are spaced by multiples of the chip duration. A new RAKE performance lower bound is established analytically in the case of correlated paths caused by the pulse shaping filter.
