Symmetry-breaking and high-frequency periodic oscillations in mutually coupled laser diodes

We investigate numerically the dynamics of two identical laser diodes that are mutually coupled by their optical fields in the case of a small inter-laser separation. The system is assumed to be perfectly symmetric, i.e. internal and operating parameters are identical for both lasers.
