Much work has been done to accelerate the natural degradation processes that affect transformer oils. While we know little about these processes, we need to know how much life we can expect from oil before we put it in service. There are a number of methods available: most use a small aliquot of oil, just enough to carry out the end-point determination. Most do not have sophisticated means by which one can confirm that the process is analogous to real-world oxidation processes. The subject method treats an aliquot of 1 L, sufficient for a full screening of oil properties. It also enables the user to confirm that it is analogous to natural oxidation processes.
