This paper describes the benefits of using multipath interference correlative timing (MICT) throughout to reduce multipath interference in three or more path fading environments for downlink direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems. MICT is timing where the despread value correlates with the multipath interference at conventional RAKE timing. We previously discussed the advantages of MICT based on two selected path signals in a TV-path fading environment. However, interference was not reduced as much when N increased. In this paper, we reconsider MICT in an N-path fading environment. We found (N-1) MICT that can reduce the interference signal of one path from another path by using the timings for all paths. Computer simulation revealed that BER improved by 2.3 dB and 2.6 dB in three and four-path equal-strength Rayleigh fading environments. By using MICT throughout, multipath interference of N-path (N ≥ 3) signals can be effectively reduced.
