Phase Complementary filters are of use in situations where it is necessary to measure energy content of a signal, at a particular frequency. This paper describes a family of such filter functions, based on time windows of the general form tke-at, k, integer. Both continuous and discrete time filters are derived from the time window via the Running Fourier Transform. An example is given to demonstrate the advantages of Phase Complementary filters over the more Conventional Filter/Square/Smooth Technique.
