This paper presents accomplishments achieved on the development of a workframe under the principles of concurrent engineering. An information model, which captures various elements that represent the knowledge of a product development team, has been assembled in each corresponding level of abstraction related to the product, as well as its decomposition into subsystems. At the same time, a process model has been built, which details the steps, milestones and phase dependencies to be followed during the development of artifacts that carry high technological complexity for the world market. Based on the models, a computer-based platform has been proposed, in which several functionalities are integrated, like those of tools for product data management, workflow systems, collaborative work systems and product management tools. In addition, a metrics system has been integrated into the platform, which allows performance evaluation based on the fundamentals of concurrent engineering.
